The "adopt-a-spot" program at Sperr Memorial Park, was created in April, 2009. This was in response to several families, requesting some way to become a "caretaker" of a small piece of this beautiful Park. It is a great way to teach young people about volunteering, and having pride in self and community. There are NO fees involved in joining this program. Each spot needs periodic weeding, mulching, and planting. Each volunteer can set their own schedule, and even spend some time walking the trails, fishing, or having a picnic.
The guidelines are simple.......the rewards are many.
» Adopt your spot for a period of one (1) year. [ April through October]
» Maintain your area in a way that is consistent with the rest of the Park.
» Do NOT remove any of the perennials already in the beds.
» Make it "your own" in design and planting of annuals. Note the park does NOT reimburse for the purchase of annuals or additional plants. This is at your own expense.
» Agree that a small sign will be placed at your spot, containing the name of your family, group, or organization.
» Most spots can be maintained in 2-4 hours per month.
